Shea Butter has been used for centuries for its unsurpassed ability to maintain and protect the skin.  Our West African Shea Butter is Certified Organic and comes from varying regions and countries such as Ghana, Mali, Burkina Fashion and Togo.  Traditionally, Shea Butter has been such an important and valuable source for many skin and hair care products. West African Shea, or Karite, comes from the nut of the Shea Butter tree, which grows in West Africa. 

The fruits of the Shea Butter tree are harvested typically by local women. The process of making Shea Butter starts with separation of the kernels from the hulls.  They are then cold-pressed.  Further and unfortunately, the use of hexane has become widespread in the refinement process.  Our Shea is solvent-free, pure and free of debris.
